We as Americans discard metal items daily. While these items don't biodegrade and become part of the ecosystem, they are recyclable and scrap metal buyers are located everywhere. They accept most ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This makes recycling almost every metal object made or sold in America possible, from cars to appliances. A scrap metal buyer will purchase anything made of iron, steel, copper, aluminum and brass.

Scrap metal prices range from a few pennies per pound of metal to over one dollar per pound. Since most scrap metal is discarded the collector can cash in on his labor for the cash paid for the metal. Others may take items that they own directly to the scrap metal recycler for cash and recoup some of their original investment as well. However the metal makes it to the scrap metal buyer, it eventually gets recycled and used to make one of many items.

Recycled scrap metal is used to make building materials, car parts, bicycles, metal baseball bats and fishing poles, to name a just a few things. Recycled aluminum cans are re-made into more aluminum cans, continuously quenching the thirst of Americans who have become more and more concerned about the environment and the prospect of recycling everything that can be recycled. Recycling also saves on the energy needed to process it from virgin ore. It saves on the use of coal, electricity, bauxite ore and limestone used to make iron or aluminum.

The collective forces of the scrap metal recycler in America resulted in over 150 million metric tons of scrap metal collected annually. Forty-four million metric tons were exported and sold overseas making the industry's annual earnings over $86 billion. Even though scrap metal prices are generally low per pound, metal is often heavy, so the earnings add up quickly. The scrap metal price for iron is a few cents per pound, while copper prices go up to 35 cents per pound.

A scrap metal buyer in Decatur, AL is likely to flourish with the constant flow of discarded metal we Americans create. Fortunately, for most of us the scrap metal industry has dedicated scrap metal agents such as Industrial Surplus Inc which accept the metals that many call trash on a daily basis. Discarded lead and copper pipes, aluminum trim from cars, railroad ties, hub caps, appliances and beer kegs are thrown away daily. Technically, they’re not trash not trash, they are recyclable goods that have value.

Like Industrial Surplus Inc, the scrap metal recycler looks for quality unspoiled metal that can be easily transformed into new metal objects. Copper without brass fittings, for instance, is needed in its pure state. Other metals are also preferred in a pure state with only one metal attached to the scrap. Recycling is big money and those who have seized this opportunity know it. Everyone who participates in the scrap metal recycling process stands to be handsomely rewarded for their contribution.
